**Mets Designate Jose Siri for Assignment, Activate Tyrone Taylor**

**New York, NY – September 24, 2025** – The New York Mets announced today that outfielder Tyrone Taylor has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list. To make room on the roster, the team has designated outfielder Jose Siri for assignment. The move was first reported by Will Sammon of The Athletic.

Siri, 30, was acquired in the offseason from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Eric Orze. The trade, however, has failed to pan out for the Mets. After excelling with the Rays, Siri has struggled with injuries and poor performance in his brief stint with New York. He spent the majority of the 2025 season on the injured list after fracturing his tibia in April. In just 36 plate appearances, Siri batted a meager .063/.167/.125 with a staggering 47.2% strikeout rate.

Prior to his injury, Siri showed promise with the Rays, hitting 25 home runs and stealing 12 bases in 2023, earning a 2.6 fWAR. While his power and defense were initially enticing, his high strikeout rate has been a persistent issue.

With Taylor returning to the lineup and Siri out of options, the Mets were faced with a difficult decision. Siri is currently earning $2.4 million this season and was arbitration-eligible next year, likely facing a non-tender decision in the offseason regardless. The Mets opted to cut ties now.
