**New Delhi, [Date – Assume Today’s Date]:** The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the highly anticipated schedule for the Class 10 board examinations in 2026, marking the debut of a new dual-exam system. The board announced the change earlier and it is designed to alleviate academic pressure on students.
According to CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj, the first exam session will run from February 17 to March 9, 2026, followed by the second session from May 15 to June 1, 2026.
This new system provides students with a second chance to improve their scores within the same academic year, eliminating the need to wait an entire year for re-examination.
The board anticipates approximately 4.5 million students will participate in the Class 10 and 12 examinations across 204 subjects. The CBSE has released the detailed timetable 146 days in advance of the first exam.
Bhardwaj also outlined the evaluation process, stating that answer script assessments will commence roughly 10 days after each subject’s exam and will be completed within 12 days.
While the dual-exam system aims to benefit students, some concerns have been raised regarding the tight scheduling between key papers. The CBSE has yet to address these concerns.
