**Trump Blasts UN in General Assembly Address, Criticizes Migration, Climate Change**

NEW YORK – In his first address to the UN General Assembly since returning to the White House, US President Donald Trump delivered a scathing critique of the United Nations, accusing it of failing to bring peace, promoting illegal migration, and perpetrating a “con job” on climate change.

Trump questioned the very purpose of the UN, stating, “What is the purpose of the United Nations? All they seem to do is write a really strongly worded letter.” He further complained about broken infrastructure at the UN headquarters, citing a faulty escalator and teleprompter.

The President also took aim at efforts to address global warming, calling climate change concerns the “greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.” He reserved some of his harshest criticism for the UN’s alleged role in fostering migration, claiming it was an assault on Western nations. “It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders,” Trump declared.

While touting his efforts to end seven wars, Trump addressed the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. He condemned the recognition of a Palestinian state by Washington’s allies as a reward to Hamas and urged the group to release hostages. He also criticized European allies, China, and India for continuing to purchase oil from Russia.

The address comes as the US has moved to pull out of the World Health Organization and the UN climate pact, curtail development assistance, and impose sanctions on foreign judges. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that these aid cuts are “wreaking havoc” globally.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, Trump is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Argentine President Javier Milei. Prior to Trump’s visit, the Secret Service disrupted a telecommunications-related plot involving a “weaponised farm” of cellphone SIM cards that could have blocked communications around the UN. Authorities indicated that nation-state threat actors were involved.
