Wed Sep 24 01:40:00 UTC 2025: **Brewers’ Woodruff Out With Lat Strain, Playoff Hopes Dented**

**ST. LOUIS** – The Milwaukee Brewers’ playoff hopes have taken a hit as right-handed pitcher Brandon Woodruff has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a strained lat muscle. This injury, which occurred during a bullpen session, casts doubt on his availability for the postseason and has left Woodruff feeling like he’s experiencing “déjà vu” from previous setbacks.

Woodruff, who just returned this season after missing the 2023 Postseason due to shoulder surgery, expressed his disappointment, acknowledging the timing is “crappy” but emphasizing that he had done everything possible to prepare his body.

Manager Pat Murphy called the situation “devastating” but remains cautiously optimistic. The Brewers, who are on the verge of clinching the NL Central title, have called up rookie left-hander Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville to fill the roster spot.

With Woodruff’s status uncertain, the Brewers are exploring options to fill his innings, including veteran Jose Quintana, who is also currently on the injured list. Several other pitchers, including Chad Patrick and rookie Jacob Misiorowski, are also being considered.

The Brewers are also dealing with injuries to key bullpen members Trevor Megill and DL Hall, adding to the pitching woes. Despite the challenges, Murphy remains confident in his team’s ability to overcome adversity as the Brewers aim for their first World Series appearance since 1982.
