Wed Sep 24 06:04:17 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru CM Asks Wipro for Road Access to Ease Traffic Congestion

**Bengaluru, India** – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has appealed to Wipro founder Azim Premji, requesting that the company consider allowing limited vehicular traffic to pass through its campus in a bid to alleviate severe congestion plaguing Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR).

In a letter addressed to Premji, the Chief Minister highlighted the critical traffic bottlenecks at Iblur junction on the ORR, a major IT corridor. He emphasized the adverse impact of the congestion on mobility, productivity, and the overall quality of life for residents.

Siddaramaiah proposed that allowing controlled vehicular movement through the Wipro campus, under mutually agreed terms and with necessary security measures, could significantly reduce congestion on adjacent stretches of the ORR. Preliminary assessments suggest a potential reduction of nearly 30% during peak hours.

The Chief Minister’s request comes amidst growing concerns from industry leaders regarding Bengaluru’s infrastructure challenges. Recently, prominent figures like Mohandas Pai and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw urged government intervention after online trucking platform BlackBuck announced its relocation due to commuting and road infrastructure issues.

Siddaramaiah lauded Wipro’s ongoing contribution to the state’s IT ecosystem and socio-economic development and expressed hope for Premji’s support in easing traffic bottlenecks and improving the commuter experience in Bengaluru. He requested a collaborative effort between Wipro’s team and government officials to develop a mutually acceptable plan as soon as possible. The move seeks to address growing concerns over Bengaluru’s traffic woes and its impact on businesses.
