**Jimmy Kimmel Returns to ABC Amidst Controversy; Some Affiliates to Preempt Show**
**NEW YORK, NY – January 30, 2025** – Jimmy Kimmel will return to “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC tonight, following a week-long hiatus. The comedian is expected to address the controversy surrounding a recent monologue regarding MAGA responses to the Charlie Kirk assassination. Conservatives heavily criticized the comments, and many viewers are eager to hear Kimmel’s response.
However, not all viewers will be able to watch the show live. Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns more than 30 ABC affiliates across the country, including those in Washington, D.C., and key markets in California, Texas, Florida, and Illinois, has announced it will preempt tonight’s broadcast. Similarly, Nexstar Media Group, another major owner of ABC affiliates, will continue to preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on their stations.
The decision by Sinclair and Nexstar underscores a growing divide in broadcast television and highlights the ongoing battle surrounding Kimmel’s commentary.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” airs at 11:35 p.m. ET/ 10:35 CT on ABC. Viewers in areas where the show is airing can watch live or stream on DirecTV, Hulu + Live TV, or Fubo. Extended segments will also be available on YouTube and ABC.com.
Tonight’s guests include actor Glen Powell, with musical guest Sarah McLachlan. The show will continue this week with Ethan Hawke, Lisa Ann Walter, Yungblud (Wednesday), Peyton Manning, Oscar Nuñez, and Alex G (Thursday).
