Wed Sep 24 13:40:24 UTC 2025: ## Coimbatore’s Kamarajar Road Restoration Expected by Month’s End

**Coimbatore, India – September 24, 2025** – Following a report in The Hindu highlighting the poor condition of Kamarajar Road after recent pipeline work, the Highways Department has announced that restoration efforts are on track for completion by September 30, 2025.

The department clarified that the Coimbatore Corporation handed over the road on September 10 after completing work on the 24/7 drinking water pipeline. Since then, Wet Mix Macadam (WMM) and concrete work have been finished, and the laying of bituminous macadam is currently in progress.

However, the department also revealed an unexpected hurdle. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) allegedly dug an unauthorized 30-meter stretch of the road for underground cable installation. This work has been halted, and TNEB has been instructed to compensate for the necessary road restoration. Once the cost is paid, TNEB will be granted permission to continue their cable work over a larger, permitted 650-meter section.
