**Guardians’ Lane Thomas Undergoes Surgery for Plantar Fasciitis**

**CLEVELAND, Ohio –** Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas underwent surgery Tuesday to address persistent plantar fasciitis in his right foot, the team announced. The procedure, a surgical release of the affected fascia, was performed by Dr. David Porter, a foot and ankle specialist, in Indianapolis.

Thomas, 30, had initially attempted to manage the injury through conservative methods, including cortisone injections and rest. However, after months of discomfort and limited improvement, surgery was deemed the best course of action.

“We’re optimistic that this surgery will provide Lane the relief he needs and allow him to return to full baseball activities in the coming months,” said a Guardians spokesperson. The team anticipates Thomas will be cleared for unrestricted baseball activities within 3-4 months.

The 2025 season has been challenging for Thomas. He appeared in only 39 games, batting .160 with four home runs and 11 RBI. He previously missed time in April after being hit by a pitch in the home opener.

Thomas first experienced plantar fasciitis issues after being traded to Cleveland. He sought advice from other MLB players who have dealt with similar injuries, including Carlos Correa, Harrison Bader, and Jonathan India.

Despite the setbacks, Thomas remains optimistic, crediting his family and teammates for their unwavering support.

The Guardians look forward to Thomas’s full recovery and return to the field.
