Tue Sep 23 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Reichard Rockets Record-Breaking Field Goal for Vikings

**Minneapolis, MN** – Vikings rookie kicker Will Reichard etched his name in NFL history books on Sunday, booting a monumental 62-yard field goal against the Cincinnati Bengals. The booming kick, which came on the final play of the first half, not only extended the Vikings’ lead to 34-3, but also became the longest field goal ever made by a player from an Alabama high school or college.

The former University of Alabama standout has quickly made a splash in the NFL. Just weeks ago, Reichard tied the previous record with a 59-yarder against the Chicago Bears. He now surpasses that mark, previously held by Cincinnati Bengals kicker and Fort Payne High School alumnus Evan McPherson.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” Reichard said after the game. “I’ve been working hard to get stronger and more consistent, and it’s great to see that work pay off.”

Adding to the significance of the feat, Reichard’s kick also shattered the Vikings’ franchise record, eclipsing Greg Joseph’s 61-yarder from 2022.

Reichard’s impressive performance continues a lineage of Alabama kickers in the NFL, though few have achieved this level of success early in their careers. Before him, the longest field goal by an Alabama alumnus in the NFL belonged to Van Tiffin, who connected from 50 yards in 1987.

The Vikings appear to have found a reliable leg in Reichard. He’s now 3-for-3 on field goal attempts beyond midfield this season and already has 30 career field goals through 16 regular-season games.

With his record-breaking kick, Will Reichard has not only secured a place in Vikings’ history but also established himself as a rising star in the NFL kicking ranks.
