**Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Criticizes Modi’s GST Relief, Demands Fairer Federal Funding**

**CHENNAI, India – September 23, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claims regarding the savings generated for Indian citizens through GST reforms and Income Tax relief in a statement released today.

Stalin argued that the current relief, while welcome, should have been implemented years ago. “If these measures had been taken eight years ago, families across the country would already have saved many lakh crores more,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister pointed out that the Union government has failed to acknowledge the significant contribution of State governments, which have borne 50% of the financial burden associated with the relief. Stalin accused the BJP-led central government of unfairly denying funds to Tamil Nadu, specifically citing the #SamagraShiksha funds, allegedly due to the state’s resistance to #HindiImposition.

“India cannot grow by punishing States that defend their rights and stand for their people,” Stalin declared, urging the Union government to “Respect federalism, release the funds, and let the people benefit from what is rightfully theirs!”

The statement highlights the ongoing tensions between the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government and the BJP-led central government regarding federalism and financial distribution. The Hindu is following the story for further updates.
