**Israeli Strike Kills Five in Southern Lebanon, Sparking Outrage**
BINT JBEIL, Lebanon – An Israeli drone strike in the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil has resulted in the deaths of five people, including three children, according to Lebanese officials. The strike, which targeted a motorcycle and a vehicle on Sunday, has drawn condemnation from Lebanese leaders who accuse Israel of committing a “crime against civilians.”
Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed the casualties, while the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that two others were wounded in the attack. According to Lebanon’s Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, the three children killed, named Celine, Hadi, and Aseel, were U.S. citizens along with their father, who also died in the strike. The children’s mother was injured.
Israel has acknowledged carrying out the strike, claiming it targeted a member of the Hezbollah group. While admitting to civilian casualties, Israel maintains that it is targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon to prevent the group from rebuilding its military capabilities.

Berri questioned whether Lebanese children posed an existential threat to Israel. He criticized Israel’s actions for jeopardizing international peace and security.
The strike occurs amidst ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, despite a US-brokered truce in effect since November. Pressure has been mounting on Hezbollah, including from the US and Saudi Arabia, to disarm. However, the group has refused to disarm, citing continued Israeli strikes and occupation of Lebanese territory.
