**New York Times Launches “Connections: Sports Edition” for Sports Enthusiasts**

NEW YORK, NY – The New York Times has unveiled a new iteration of its popular word game, Connections, tailored for sports fans. “Connections: Sports Edition,” developed in association with The Athletic, challenges players to identify common threads between seemingly disparate words, testing their knowledge of the sports world.

Similar to the original Connections and the viral sensation Wordle, the game presents players with a grid of 16 words and tasks them with grouping them into four categories based on shared themes. The puzzles refresh daily at midnight and progressively increase in difficulty.

The game, accessible via web browsers and mobile devices, allows players up to four incorrect guesses before the game ends. To aid in solving, players can shuffle the word grid and utilize a color-coding system indicating category difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest). Like Wordle, scores can be shared on social media.

Today’s solution included categories like items seen on an NFL sideline, NBA teams with singular nicknames, teams Michael Jordan played for, and Big Ten Stadiums. The launch of “Connections: Sports Edition” demonstrates The New York Times’ continued investment in engaging puzzle games and expanding its appeal to niche audiences through its partnership with The Athletic. Puzzle enthusiasts can look forward to new challenges daily. For more puzzles, visit Mashable’s games hub.
