**ROSEVILLE, Calif. –** A 60-year-old Roseville man died Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the Interstate 80 on-ramp on Riverside Avenue. The collision occurred at approximately 10:44 a.m. on September 16th, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP).
CHP Public Information Officer Mike Hamilton stated that the bicyclist was crossing the crosswalk just prior to the westbound I-80 on-ramp from southbound Riverside Avenue when he was hit by a silver 2021 Toyota Camry. Radio transmissions indicate a Citrus Heights police officer was alerted to the collision by passersby immediately after it occurred.
The driver of the Camry, a 55-year-old man from Citrus Heights, remained at the scene. The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is still under investigation,” Hamilton said. “It remains unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.”
