**New Delhi -** Businessman Samir Modi, brother of fugitive Lalit Modi, was arrested at Delhi’s airport on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in connection with a 2019 rape case. Police confirmed the arrest, stating an FIR was registered at the New Friends Police Station under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

The complainant alleges that Mr. Modi approached her under the guise of offering career opportunities in the fashion and lifestyle industry, before subsequently raping, threatening, and cheating on her beginning in December 2019. She claims the abuse took place at his New Friends Colony residence and that she was subjected to constant harassment, assault, and blackmail under false promises of marriage, despite knowing Mr. Modi was already married. The woman further alleges threats to her life and family if she revealed the abuse.

Mr. Modi’s legal counsel, Sakura Advisory, denies the allegations, claiming they are fabricated and an attempt to extort money from him. A statement released by the counsel asserts that Mr. Modi filed complaints of extortion and blackmail against the complainant with police on August 8 and 13, supported by WhatsApp messages in which she allegedly requested ₹50 crore.

The arrest followed a Lookout Circular (LOC) request from the New Friends Colony police station. Mr. Modi has been remanded to one-day police custody by the court.

Mr. Modi’s counsel contends that the arrest is an abuse of the law and a hasty action by police before properly verifying the facts. They further expressed faith in the judiciary and requested privacy for the family during this sensitive time.

Samir Modi’s LinkedIn profile identifies him as the Managing Director of Modi Enterprises and Founder of Modicare Foundation and Colorbar Cosmetics Private Limited. Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
