**September 16, 2025** – Fans of the zombie survival franchise *Dying Light* are in for a treat this week as *Dying Light: The Beast* is set to launch on Thursday, September 18th, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are slated for release later this year.

Originally conceived as a DLC expansion for 2022’s *Dying Light 2: Stay Human*, *The Beast* has evolved into a standalone game after a story leak prompted developer Techland to expand the project’s scope.

In a move sure to please dedicated fans, Techland is offering *Dying Light: The Beast* for **free** to all owners of the *Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition*. This applies to players across all platforms (PC, PlayStation, and Xbox) who purchased the Ultimate Edition between its initial release and its removal from sale in September 2024.

“We are excited to deliver this enhanced experience to our loyal Ultimate Edition owners,” a Techland representative stated. “We felt it was the right thing to do given the evolution of *The Beast* from DLC to a full-fledged game.”

Ultimate Edition owners will not only receive the base game of *Dying Light 2*, the *Bloody Ties* DLC, and exclusive in-game items, but they will also get the pre-order bonuses for *The Beast*, despite not having pre-ordered it, which caused confusion.

*Dying Light: The Beast* puts players in the role of Kyle Crane, who, after escaping brutal experiments at the hands of the Baron, finds himself battling a terrifying transformation. The official synopsis reads: “You are Kyle Crane. After being captured by the Baron and enduring his painful experiments for years, you escape. But now, a battle rages inside you: zombie DNA clashes with human, and you struggle to control the beast within. You want revenge… but first you must tame it. It’s your only option.”
