**Gaza City -** A new wave of Israeli attacks in Gaza has left at least 19 Palestinians dead near al-Shifa and al-Ahli hospitals, according to medical officials. The strikes, part of an ongoing ground assault on Gaza City, have drawn condemnation from international bodies and humanitarian organizations, already struggling to provide aid in the besieged territory.

On Thursday, medical sources told Al Jazeera that at least 83 Palestinians were killed in total by Israeli forces, with 61 deaths recorded in Gaza City. Fifteen of those deaths occurred outside al-Shifa hospital, while another four were reported near al-Ahli hospital. The attacks have disrupted critical, already fragile, healthcare services for a population facing starvation, illness, and widespread injuries.

Hamas has denounced the attacks as a “full-fledged war crime,” citing a recent UN report documenting potential genocide against Palestinians. The group accused Israel of showing “blatant contempt for the international community.”

The UK’s Middle East minister, Hamish Falconer, expressed horror over the bombardment of al-Rantisi children’s hospital, stating that “Babies in incubators and children on dialysis should not be under bombardment”. Gaza’s Health Ministry said the children’s hospital was struck three times, forcing patients to flee.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) mourned the death of nurse Hussein Alnajjar, who died from shrapnel wounds after an Israeli strike near his tent.

The attacks come as a recent UN inquiry highlighted Israel’s destruction of the Al Basma IVF center, calling it a deliberate act to prevent births among Palestinians, potentially constituting genocide. The UN has accused Israel of “medicide,” a systematic campaign to dismantle Gaza’s health sector through the destruction of hospitals and the killing of healthcare workers.

Residents describe unprecedented bombardment in Gaza City, with tanks, jets, and naval boats flattening homes. The UN Human Rights Office has denounced Israel’s “wanton destruction” as “tantamount to ethnic cleansing.”

Meanwhile, the UN warns of deepening famine in northern Gaza due to aid convoy blockages, and the humanitarian situation is deteriorating rapidly. Since October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 65,062 Palestinians and wounded 165,697.
