**Paris, France –** As “The Summer I Turned Pretty” approaches its series finale on Prime Video, creator Jenny Han is promising fans a much richer conclusion than what’s found in her book series. Entertainment Weekly was granted exclusive access to the Paris set, where the final episodes are being filmed, revealing significant departures from the book “We’ll Always Have Summer.”
The show’s last book in the series, ends rather abruptly after Jeremiah calls off the wedding, with only an epilogue explaining how Belly ended up studying abroad in Spain before those letters changed everything. Han wanted to extend the conclusion of the story in her Prime Video TV adaptation, with some major changes.
One major change is the relocation of Belly’s study abroad experience from Spain to Paris. Han explained the decision to film in the City of Love, stating it felt romantic and would allow for more character development for Belly. The creator reveals the final season has been supersized to 11 episodes to accommodate the expanded storyline.
“There is so much that is going to surprise fans about how much we’re showing of Belly in Paris and the whole ending,” Han told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s not just an epilogue.”
