**Bucks County SPCA Offers $2,500 Reward in Fatal Shooting of Stray Cat**
FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA – The Bucks County SPCA is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the fatal shooting of a stray cat last week. The incident occurred in the B-section of Pennwood Crossing Mobile Home Park on Thursday, September 11th.
The victim, a black-and-white Tuxedo cat known as “Mikey,” was discovered by a passerby around 7:30 p.m. bleeding and still warm. The passerby rushed Mikey to a veterinary clinic, where an X-ray revealed a projectile lodged in his body. He did not survive the injury.
According to a press release from the Bucks County SPCA, Mikey was a friendly, neutered male who lived as part of a managed colony of stray cats in the mobile home park. Local volunteers cared for the colony.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathy to those who knew and loved ‘Mikey’,” stated the SPCA in their release.
The SPCA is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Animal cruelty is a crime in Pennsylvania, and causing the death of a cat – whether it’s a housecat, stray, or feral – can result in a felony charge.
