Wed Sep 17 04:40:00 UTC 2025: **Dodgers Pitcher Treinen Honors Charlie Kirk During Game Amidst Assassination Fallout**
**Los Angeles, CA** – Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen paid tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk during Friday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants, days after Kirk’s assassination at Utah Valley University. Treinen was seen with the name “Charlie Kirk,” flanked by crosses, written on his hat as he took the mound in the bottom of the 10th inning.
The tribute quickly gained traction on social media. Kirk, 31, was shot and killed Wednesday while addressing a crowd of approximately 3,000 people on the Utah Valley University campus. Authorities apprehended 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who they allege fired the fatal shot from a rooftop approximately 200 yards away. Robinson was arrested Friday.
Unfortunately for Treinen, the game ended in a 5-1 loss for the Dodgers. Treinen took the loss after issuing a walk and allowing an unearned run. San Francisco catcher Patrick Bailey ultimately sealed the victory for the Giants with a walk-off grand slam off of Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott.
