**Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh -** Two men have been arrested following a police encounter in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with a shooting at the Bareilly residence of Bollywood actress Disha Patani. The suspects, identified as having ties to a major transnational criminal organization, were injured in the exchange of fire and are currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
The incident occurred in the early hours of September 12th, around 3:45 AM, when gunshots were fired at Ms. Patani’s ancestral home in the Civil Lines area of Bareilly. The residence was occupied by Ms. Patani’s father, retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Singh Patani, her mother, and her elder sister, Khushbu Patani.
Shortly after the shooting, Canadian-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the attack via a social media post. In the post, Brar alleged the shooting was in retaliation for comments purportedly made by Disha Patani and her sister regarding religious figures Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya. Brar’s online statement also included explicit threats and tagged individuals believed to be associated with his criminal network.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and the extent of the suspects’ involvement with Brar’s organization. The investigation seeks to further confirm the motive behind the attack and bring all involved parties to justice.
