**Dehradun, September 16, 2025 (The Hindu) -** Heavy rainfall overnight on Monday has triggered severe flooding in the Sahastradhara area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, leaving a trail of damage and prompting urgent rescue operations. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been deployed to the affected area to assist stranded residents.

Over 100 people, including students from the Devbhoomi Institute, have been rescued by the SDRF. Authorities have reported that two individuals are currently missing in the wake of the floods. Preliminary reports also indicate a bridge has been washed away and one death has been reported in Mussoorie.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the situation on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his concern and assuring the public that relief and rescue efforts are underway. “Received the sad news of some shops getting damaged due to heavy rains in Sasthdhara, Dehradun, late last night,” Dhami posted. “District administration, SDRF, and police have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue operations… I am constantly in touch with the local administration in this regard and am personally monitoring the situation. I pray to God for everyone’s safety.”

Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to those affected by the devastating floods.
