**Charlie Kirk Shooting: Suspect Uncooperative, Investigation Continues Amidst Political Tensions**

OREM, Utah – Tyler Robinson, 22, the suspect in the fatal shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, 31, is not cooperating with authorities and has not confessed, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox. Kirk was shot dead on Wednesday during an open-air event at Utah Valley University.

Robinson was taken into custody on Thursday night after surrendering to police, approximately 33 hours after the shooting. He is currently being held without bail at Utah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice.

Governor Cox told ABC News that people around Robinson are cooperating with the investigation, including Robinson’s roommate and partner, who Cox said had no prior knowledge of the alleged shooting and is assisting investigators. Cox confirmed the partner is currently transitioning from male to female, but said that the relevance of this information to the investigation is unknown.

The governor also addressed reports of Robinson allegedly joking about being the gunman on the Discord messaging platform after the shooting, stating that these conversations occurred, but other participants initially didn’t believe Robinson.

Cox has emphasized the need for unity and has criticized social media in the wake of Kirk’s death, calling social media a cancer and urging measures to hold platform owners accountable. He has also described Kirk’s shooting as a “direct assault on America.”

Kirk, a controversial figure in US politics and a close ally of former President Donald Trump, was the co-founder of Turning Point USA, an organization that promotes conservative ideals on college campuses.

A memorial service for Kirk will be held on September 21st at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

The investigation into the motive behind the shooting is ongoing, with authorities interviewing individuals who knew Robinson. Further evidence and information are expected to be released when official charges are filed.
