Sun Sep 14 19:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Rangers Steal Late Win Against Mets, Continue Hot Streak

**NEW YORK** – The Texas Rangers continued their improbable winning streak on Saturday, edging out the New York Mets 3-2 at Citi Field thanks to a late-inning surge. The victory marks their sixth consecutive win and brings them within striking distance of both the AL West lead (2 games behind the Astros) and a Wild Card spot (1.5 games behind the Mariners).

The Rangers, boasting the best record in Major League Baseball over the past three weeks (16-4 since August 22nd), demonstrated their resilience despite being without their star double-play duo of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. Manager Bruce Bochy has relied on a group of players affectionately nicknamed the “Little Rascals” by a local TV analyst, including Cody Freeman, Michael Helman, Alejandro Osuna, and Dustin Harris.

“We just battle. We are not giving up at all,” said Rangers left fielder Wyatt Langford. “It doesn’t matter who is in there or who is on the mound or whatever. We are doing whatever we can to score a couple of runs, just make it a ballgame and go from there.”

The Rangers bats were silent for the first seven innings, stymied by Mets right-hander Brandon Sproat. But the tide turned in the eighth when Josh Smith reached on catcher’s interference. Langford followed with a double, and Joc Pederson drove in Smith with a sacrifice fly.

In the ninth, with the score tied 2-2, Freeman singled off Francisco Lindor, and Harris pinch-ran, scoring on a clutch single from Langford off Mets closer Edwin Diaz.

The Mets threatened in the bottom of the ninth, putting runners on first and third with one out. However, Rangers right-hander Shawn Armstrong slammed the door, striking out Brandon Nimmo to secure the victory.

Rowdy Tellez, entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the eighth, tied the game with a double, after live batting practice he took with Adolis García before the game. He emphasized his commitment to staying sharp and contributing whenever his number is called.

“We are in September playing important games. We are doing a good job,” said Bochy. “They are playing with a lot of confidence, and they are having a lot of fun out there. They are loose, and that’s the way you want them to be.”

The Rangers will look to continue their momentum as they chase a playoff berth.
