**Martin Sheen Supports Son Charlie’s Vulnerable Documentary, Director Reveals**

**HOLLYWOOD, CA – September 12, 2025** – The recently released Netflix documentary, “aka Charlie Sheen,” has garnered attention not only for its candid portrayal of Charlie Sheen’s life, but also for the reaction of his famous father, Martin Sheen.

Director Andrew Renzi, in an interview with E! News, revealed that Martin Sheen watched the documentary alongside him. Renzi admitted to being initially nervous, calling the experience “scary” due to Martin’s stature. However, Renzi’s anxieties proved unfounded. Martin Sheen, along with Charlie’s brother Emilio Estevez, chose not to be interviewed for the documentary, but expressed support for the project, with his father wanting Charlie to have his moment to tell his story.

“My perspective on it was that he wanted his son to have his moment to tell his story and didn’t feel like he needed to add to all of the stuff that he lived throughout,” Renzi explained. He further noted that he found a way to incorporate Martin Sheen into the narrative effectively, making an interview unnecessary.

“aka Charlie Sheen,” which premiered on Netflix on September 10th, features interviews with close friends and colleagues of the actor, including Jon Cryer, Sean Penn, and ex-wife Denise Richards. The documentary delves into Sheen’s career, struggles with addiction, marriages, and sexuality. Renzi emphasized his goal was to create a safe space for Sheen to be candid about his life, a project a year in the making. Sheen also has children Cassandra, Sami, Lola, Bob and Max, who are all doing well.

The documentary includes appearances by Sami and Lola Sheen, daughters of Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards. Sami, now 21, has found success as an OnlyFans model, celebrating the freedom and opportunities it has provided. Lola, 20, has embraced a deeply religious path, crediting her faith with saving her from depression and giving her a newfound sense of purpose. Eloise is the youngest of Denise Richards’ daughters. She was adopted in 2011 and in 2016 was diagnosed with a deletion in chromosome 8. Twin sons Bob and Max live with their father, Charlie, but were seen attending their mom’s, Brooke Mueller, 47th birthday celebration in August 2024.
