Sat Sep 13 15:08:53 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad: Three Arrested for Stalking and Harassing Women University Students
**Hyderabad, September 13, 2025:** Three men have been arrested by the Sultan Bazar police in Hyderabad for allegedly stalking and harassing women students of Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University (formerly Koti Women’s College). The accused, identified as Pilli Srinivas (23), Surampalli Venkateshwarla Vara Prasad (19), and Samudrala Harish (25), are facing charges related to harassment and spreading false information.
Police reports indicate that the trio obtained students’ phone numbers through other individuals and subsequently subjected them to harassing calls and WhatsApp messages. They allegedly questioned the students on sensitive personal matters, including their marital status, health issues, and gynaecological health, and pressured them to visit locations under false pretenses of health check-ups.
Furthermore, the accused are alleged to have spread false rumors about 20 students going missing from the university hostel, causing widespread panic among the student body.
The case was initiated following a formal complaint filed on September 5th by Vinita Pandey, Director of Student Affairs at the university. Ms. Pandey reported repeated instances of harassment against students and the circulation of fabricated messages.
“They questioned the students about their marital status, health issues and gynaecological matters, and pressured them to visit locations… under the pretext of health check-ups,” stated an officer from the Sultan Bazar police station.
The arrested men were produced before a court earlier today and have been remanded to judicial custody. The police investigation is ongoing.
