Sat Sep 13 12:59:16 UTC 2025: ## Srikakulam-Amadalavalasa Road Plagued by Potholes, Drivers Face Nightmare

**Srikakulam, India – September 13, 2025 (6:34 PM IST)** – Hundreds of drivers are enduring grueling conditions on the rain-damaged road connecting Srikakulam and Amadalavalasa in Andhra Pradesh. Incessant rains have exacerbated the already poor state of the 15km stretch, transforming it into a treacherous route riddled with potholes.

The once-smooth journey now takes approximately 35 minutes, with vehicle movement slowed to a crawl due to the extensive damage. Residents express particular concern regarding nighttime travel, where waterlogging conceals the dangerous potholes, increasing the risk of accidents.

“Night travel on this road is even more dangerous, as waterlogging often conceals the potholes. Unless officials immediately take up repairs, accidents are bound to increase,” warned A. Ramana, a local resident of Amadalavalasa.

The issue has sparked public outcry, with some accusing political parties of neglecting road development since the 2024 elections, where the road’s condition became a key point of contention. CPI(M) Srikakulam district secretary D. Govinda Rao alleged that all political parties have ignored the need for road repairs after the votes were cast.

Residents are urging authorities to take immediate action to repair the damaged road and prevent further accidents. The situation underscores the critical need for infrastructure maintenance, especially in areas susceptible to heavy rainfall.
