**Youth Arrested for Sexually Harassing Bike Taxi Driver in Chennai**

Arumbakkam Police have arrested a 19-year-old identified as Imran of Aminjikarai on charges of sexually harassing a female bike taxi driver. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon during a ride booked from Koyambedu to Arumbakkam MMDA.

According to police reports, the 31-year-old victim from Otteri, a bike taxi driver, received a booking through the app. Though the ride was ostensibly for the caller’s mother, Imran himself boarded the taxi, requesting to be taken to his college.

During the ride, Imran allegedly engaged in lewd conversation over his phone, clearly directed at the driver, and proceeded to inappropriately touch her. The woman immediately stopped the vehicle in Arumbakkam and confronted him, at which point he fled the scene.

The victim filed a complaint at the Arumbakkam police station. Following an investigation, police apprehended Imran and confiscated his mobile phone. He was presented before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody on Thursday.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by female drivers in the burgeoning bike taxi sector and underscores the need for increased safety measures and stricter enforcement of laws protecting them from harassment.
