**Salem, September 12, 2025 (The Hindu) -** A home robbery in Salem has left a couple bereft of 56 sovereigns of jewelry and ₹95,000 in cash. The incident occurred at the residence of Sivakumar, 58, a joint director at Sidco, and his wife, Manimegalai, 52, an assistant director in the agriculture department, located in NKN Nagar, Narasothipatti.

According to reports, the couple left for work on Wednesday and returned on Thursday evening to find their front door ajar. Upon inspection, they discovered the theft of valuables from their almirah.

Suramangalam police were immediately notified and dispatched a team to the scene. Forensic experts collected fingerprints, and CCTV footage revealed an individual with a concealed face entering the residence and making off with the stolen items.

Police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident. Special teams have been formed to apprehend the culprit. The investigation is ongoing.
