Fri Sep 12 02:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Jerry Jones Defends Parsons Trade Amidst Eagles Offer Reports
**Dallas, TX** – Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is standing by his decision to trade star pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, despite reports of a potentially more lucrative offer from division rival Philadelphia Eagles. Jones addressed the situation following Parsons’ debut with the Packers on Sunday, where he recorded his first sack in a 27-13 victory over the Detroit Lions.
“We were all interested in that game and how Micah played,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. “Not one thing unexpected for me as to how he played. He’s gotten on a good team up there in Green Bay… I wish him well.”
The trade, finalized just days before the start of the season, sent shockwaves through the league. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported that the Eagles offered a package including two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and a fifth-round pick for Parsons. The Cowboys ultimately received two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark from Green Bay.
Jones confirmed that the Cowboys never countered the Eagles’ offer, stating the intention was always to gauge the overall market for Parsons. “The thought all along was to see where the interest level was,” he explained. “That was very important and from the get-go that was an effort on our part to chum up interest… Once that interest really started peaking, then you started having that phone ring. And that’s exactly what the plan was — to see if that phone would ring and the proposition be there enough for us to make the move.”
Parsons, who signed a massive four-year, $188 million contract with the Packers, has publicly criticized the timing of the trade, calling it “super draining, super toxic for everyone.” The move left him with little time to adjust before his first game in Green Bay.
Despite the tumultuous offseason, Parsons made a positive impression in his debut. Jones acknowledged he’ll be keeping a close eye on Parsons’ performance as the Cowboys prepare to face the Packers on September 28.
