Thu Sep 11 01:18:02 UTC 2025: **Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk Shot Dead at Utah University Event**

**OREM, UT –** Charlie Kirk, 31, a prominent conservative activist and ally of former President Donald Trump, was shot and killed Wednesday at Utah Valley University. The incident occurred during Kirk’s “American Comeback Tour” stop, the first of 15 scheduled university events.

Video circulating on social media shows Kirk engaging in a debate with a student at his “Prove Me Wrong” table shortly before a gunshot rang out. Kirk was reportedly discussing mass shootings and transgender people when he was struck in the neck, collapsing from his chair. Attendees fled the scene in panic.

According to university spokeswoman, the shot was fired from the roof of the school’s Losee Center, a campus building about 200 yards from the event area. No other injuries were reported. Kirk’s wife and children were present at the time of the shooting.

Following the incident, the university went into lockdown and classes were canceled until further notice.

Authorities initially detained a “person of interest,” but the individual was later released, according to FBI director Kash Patel. The investigation remains ongoing.

Kirk was the co-founder of Turning Point USA, a major conservative youth movement. He was a vocal supporter of President Trump and a controversial figure known for his sharp criticism of mainstream media and his involvement in culture war issues.

The shooting has drawn widespread condemnation from both Democrats and Republicans. President Trump has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Kirk’s honor.

Former President Joe Biden said on X, “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now.”

International figures, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev, also expressed their condolences.
