**Hyderabad, India – September 5, 2025** – “Kannappa,” the highly anticipated Telugu devotional drama starring Vishnu Manchu, has made its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video. The film, which features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Mohan Babu, premiered on the streaming platform on September 4th.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, “Kannappa” tells the legendary story of Thinnadu, an atheist who transforms into Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva known for his ultimate sacrifice. While the film boasts a powerful storyline and a stellar cast, it garnered a modest reception at the box office earlier this year. Now, its performance on the digital platform is being closely watched.
Prime Video announced the film’s arrival with a fiery poster showcasing the ensemble cast on its official Instagram handle. Currently, “Kannappa” is available to stream in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. It remains unclear whether a Hindi version or Hindi subtitles will be added in the future.
The OTT release has generated significant buzz online. Some viewers have praised the film’s spiritual depth and compelling narrative, while others have expressed disappointment with the ending. A common request among viewers is for a Hindi version of the movie to be released.
Star Vishnu Manchu also took to social media to announce the digital release, urging viewers to “Witness the epic, spirit of sacrifice & divinity.” He co-wrote the story which explores the extraordinary journey of Thinnadu who eventully became the legendary Kannappa.
The film features Preity Mukundan as the protagonist’s love interest, and Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal portray Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, respectively.
Whether “Kannappa” will find a wider audience and achieve greater success on Prime Video remains to be seen.
