**Delhi, India -** A celebratory ritual turned disastrous on Monday evening when a new Mahindra Thar owner accidentally drove her car through the front window of a Delhi showroom, landing on the street below. Maani Pawar, 29, had just taken delivery of her Rs 27 lakh SUV at the Mahindra showroom in Nirman Vihar when the incident occurred.
According to police reports, Pawar was performing a traditional “pooja” ritual, involving squeezing a lemon under the car’s tire, before driving it off the lot. While attempting the maneuver on the showroom’s first floor, she mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of gently pushing the car forward.
The Thar, with Pawar and a showroom employee named Vikas inside, crashed through the glass facade and plummeted onto the pavement. Fortunately, the airbags deployed, and both occupants were quickly transported to Malik Hospital. They were treated for minor injuries and discharged.
“On enquiry, it was found that Maani and her husband Pradeep purchased a Thar Rox car from a Mahindra Showroom situated at Nirman Vihar,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania. “No one was injured and no complaint was received from anyone.”
A video circulating online shows the overturned vehicle on the road beneath the damaged showroom. While the brand-new Thar suffered considerable damage, authorities have confirmed that no bystanders were injured in the incident.
