**Jai Hind TV Senior News Editor Mathew C.R. Passes Away at 53**

**Thiruvananthapuram, India – September 9, 2025** – Mathew C.R., senior news editor at Jai Hind TV, passed away on Tuesday at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram following a cardiac arrest. He was 53 years old.

Mr. Mathew, a respected figure in Kerala journalism, previously worked at ACV, Surya TV news, and Veekshanam. His career spanned several decades.

Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan expressed his condolences, recalling his long association with Mr. Mathew dating back to their time at Mar Ivanios College. Satheesan described Mr. Mathew as a tenacious journalist who was never afraid to ask tough questions. He emphasized their continued bond, noting that Mr. Mathew remained a regular visitor even after Satheesan became an MLA and later, Leader of the Opposition. Satheesan added, “He recalled that Mr. Mathew shared a warm bond with him, similar to that with a family member.”

The funeral will be held at St. Peter’s Church, Pattoor, at 11 a.m. on Thursday. On Wednesday, colleagues will have the opportunity to pay their respects at the Jai Hind TV office from 1.30 p.m. before the body is taken to the Press Club and then to his residence.

Mr. Mathew is survived by his family.
