**Former Thiruvananthapuram Collector M. Nandakumar Passes Away at 69**
**Thiruvananthapuram, September 10, 2025** – M. Nandakumar, former Thiruvananthapuram Collector and Director of Public Relations, passed away on Tuesday night in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 69 years old.
Mr. Nandakumar had been receiving treatment at a private hospital for the past four months following brain surgery.
Born in Ernakulam, Mr. Nandakumar completed his education in Thiruvananthapuram, earning a degree in Life Sciences, a postgraduate degree in Journalism, and a law degree. He began his career as a sub-editor trainee before entering government service. He was conferred IAS in 1993.
In 2011, he was appointed as the Thiruvananthapuram Collector. Throughout his career, he also held prominent positions such as Director of Collegiate Education, Kudumbashree Director, Civil Supplies Director, and Land Use Commissioner.
Known for his oratory skills and writing abilities, Mr. Nandakumar also had a keen interest in astrology and numerology.
He is survived by his wife, N.S. Sreelatha, and their two children, Vishnu and Parvathy.
The body will be available for public viewing at the University Women’s Association Hall, Jawahar Nagar, from 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The cremation is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Santhikavadam, Thycaud.
