**Friendship and Rivalry Collide: Love and Zilisch Set for Xfinity Series Playoff Battle**

**BRISTOL, Tenn. (October 15, 2025)** – The NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs are set to kick off at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday, and two young drivers, Jesse Love and Connor Zilisch, are poised to make a splash, not just as competitors, but also as close friends. Their bond, built on shared interests, a similar sense of humor, and a history dating back to their early go-karting days, adds an intriguing layer to the high-stakes championship chase.

Love, piloting the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, and Zilisch, behind the wheel of the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, have a unique relationship. What started with Zilisch offering advice (initially rejected!) to a young Love at the Trackhouse Motorplex has blossomed into a deep friendship fueled by mutual respect and a healthy dose of competition.

“It’s easy to blend the two together, your outside friend life and your racing job,” Zilisch said during Xfinity Series Playoffs Media Day, acknowledging the challenge of separating friendship from fierce on-track battles. “You don’t want to wreck your friend, but you have to expect it if you’re going to race around each other.”

Zilisch enters the playoffs with considerable momentum, boasting a four-race winning streak and sitting a comfortable 59 points above the cutline. Love, the Daytona season opener winner, is also in a strong position, starting eight points above the elimination line. While this is their first championship battle in a NASCAR national series, both drivers believe their friendship will remain intact.

“I don’t think the playoffs really will change too much,” said Zilisch.

The competitive spirit between the two is undeniable. Love admitted that being beaten by Zilisch “sucks,” but uses it as motivation to improve. “It does motivate me to get better,” Love stated, “I’ve definitely gotten better this year…because Connor’s motivated me because I don’t want to be second fiddle to him.”

The duo has already demonstrated their potential, with five top-five finishes together, including a 1-2 finish at Pocono Raceway earlier in the season. As Zilisch prepares for his Cup Series transition next year, and Love chases his own title aspirations, the Xfinity Series Playoffs promise thrilling racing with a compelling friendship at its heart.

The Xfinity Series Playoffs Round of 12 opener at Bristol Motor Speedway takes place Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET, broadcast on The CW, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
