**MANGALURU, September 8, 2025** – Mangaluru City Police have collected a significant ₹69.78 lakh in pending traffic fines in just 14 days, capitalizing on a 50% rebate offered by the government. The rebate, which began on August 23rd and continues until September 12th, has spurred citizens to settle outstanding traffic violations.
The police reported a surge in fine payments, with ₹6.42 lakh collected on the first day alone, involving 2,473 cases. While the amount dipped briefly, it quickly rebounded, consistently remaining above ₹5 lakh per day for the following two weeks.
This recent success contributes to a larger haul of over ₹5 crore in traffic fines collected from January to August of this year. Key violations leading to fines include other traffic offenses at ₹1.47 crore, riding without a helmet at ₹1.45 crore, unauthorized use of tint at ₹48.43 lakh, and driving without a seat belt at ₹31.81 lakh. Other notable infractions include “No Entry” violations, carrying excess passengers, wrong parking, and drunk driving.
The Mangaluru City Police are encouraging residents to take advantage of the remaining days of the rebate to settle outstanding fines. Payments can be made at the four traffic police stations, the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), the Mangaluru City Corporation Command and Control Centre, or through the Mangalore One or Karnataka One websites. Offline payments are also accepted at post offices across the state and at traffic police stations.
The police urge citizens with pending e-challans received via post or SMS to clear their dues to benefit from the 50% reduction before the September 12th deadline.
