Sat Sep 06 03:50:00 UTC 2025: ## North Texas Braces for Storms Before Weekend Relief
**DALLAS -** North Texas residents can expect one more day of late summer heat before a cold front brings a chance of strong storms and a welcome taste of fall this weekend.
Today’s high temperatures will reach the low to mid-90s, mirroring average highs for this time of year. However, an approaching upper-level disturbance raises the possibility of thunderstorms developing this afternoon, with a 30% chance of activity.
“Some of these storms could pack a punch,” warns Meteorologist Kylie Capps. “We’re looking at the potential for strong winds, possibly reaching 50 to 60 mph, and small hail.” The greatest concentration of storm activity is expected north of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area.
While the storms are predicted to spread south overnight, forecasters anticipate they will weaken as they move.
The cold front arrives in full force on Saturday, ushering in cooler, cloudier conditions. Temperatures will start in the 60s and 70s, with a few light showers possible early in the day. The showers are expected to clear in southern counties by the afternoon, while areas north of DFW will likely remain cloudy with some breaks later in the day. High temperatures will be significantly lower, climbing only into the low 80s, providing a welcome respite from the recent heat.
Sunday brings a higher chance of showers to the west and south of DFW, with a 40% or greater coverage. Areas to the north and east will have a lower chance, around 20%. Mostly cloudy skies will keep temperatures in the low 80s after starting in the 60s.
The cooler trend continues into Monday, with highs remaining in the 80s and a slight chance of light showers. However, the reprieve will be short-lived. Forecasters predict temperatures will return to the 90s on Tuesday and remain there through the middle of next week, accompanied by drier conditions.
