**Mumbai Bids Farewell to Lord Ganesh as Visarjan Processions Fill the Streets**
**Mumbai, September 6, 2025** – Thousands of devotees braved the rains in Mumbai today as the city celebrated Anant Chaturdashi, the final day of the 10-day Ganpati festival, with vibrant visarjan processions. Streets were thronged with faithful as beautifully decorated idols of Lord Ganesh embarked on their final journey to immersion points, primarily Girgaon Chowpatty.
Beats of “dhol-tasha” resonated throughout the city as devotees danced and chanted “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya.” Colorful “rangolis” adorned the roads, marking the procession routes. The iconic Lalbaugcha Raja, known for attracting massive crowds, began its procession, drawing eager onlookers.
Crowds gathered at strategic locations like Shroff Building in Lalbaug to witness the traditional Pushpvrishti (flower shower) performed on the Ganpati idols. Many had lined the streets for hours, patiently waiting to catch a glimpse and seek blessings from the revered deities.
In Pune, immersion processions also commenced with the “Manacha” (eminent and revered) idol of Kasba Ganesh mandal taking the lead. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, and Minister Chandrakant Patil participated in the Kasba Ganpati procession. Pune Police had issued detailed timetables to ensure the processions concluded on time.
“This year, mandals have decided to begin the processions early. I am sure that we will be able to end them in record time,” said Mohol, speaking to reporters.
The Hindu extends wishes of a safe and blessed visarjan to all devotees.
