**Apple Set to Unveil Ultra-Thin iPhone 17 Air at September 9th Event**

**CUPERTINO, CA – August 29, 2024** – Apple (AAPL) is gearing up for its highly anticipated annual fall event on September 9th, to be held at its Cupertino headquarters. The spotlight is expected to be on the new iPhone 17 lineup, with a groundbreaking addition: the iPhone 17 Air.

The iPhone 17 Air, rumored to be a mere 5.5 millimeters thin, is poised to revolutionize smartphone design, surpassing both the standard iPhone 17 (7.8mm) and the Pro models (8.3mm) in slimness. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this sleek profile might come with trade-offs, potentially including a single wide-angle camera instead of the dual or triple setups found on other iPhone 17 models, and a smaller battery.

Industry experts are weighing in on the potential success of the iPhone 17 Air. Nabila Popal, senior research director at IDC, pointed to Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge as a cautionary tale, suggesting that ultra-thin design alone may not guarantee sales success. However, there’s speculation that the iPhone 17 Air could serve as a prototype for Apple’s much-anticipated foldable iPhone, expected to launch in 2026, following a similar path taken by Samsung.

Alongside the iPhone 17 Air, Apple is also expected to debut the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Air model will reportedly replace the previous “Plus” model. The iPhone 17 Air and standard iPhone 17 will boast the new A19 processor, while the Pro models will be powered by the A19 Pro chips. MacRumors reports the Pro models will feature an upgraded telephoto lens and a redesigned camera bump for added differentiation. Furthermore, the standard iPhone 17 is slated to receive a larger 6.3-inch display, a bump from the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch screen. Wall Street analysts are also anticipating a price increase for the latest iPhones, ranging from $50 to $100 for the Air.

Beyond iPhones, the event will likely feature the unveiling of the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. While the Series 11 is anticipated to have modest upgrades, the Ultra 3 is rumored to gain satellite messaging capabilities and a larger screen. A new Apple Watch SE model is also expected.

Finally, Apple could potentially introduce AirPods 3 with heart rate-tracking functionality, bringing a feature already available in its PowerBeats Pro 2 earbuds to its flagship earbud line.

All will be revealed when Apple CEO Tim Cook takes the stage at the September 9th event. Stay tuned for further updates.
