Fri Sep 05 04:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Ja’Marr Chase Teases “Dawg Pound” Leap, Then Claims It’s All a Troll

**CLEVELAND, OH** – Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase stirred up some playful controversy ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, initially hinting at a potential celebratory leap into the notorious “Dawg Pound” before quickly clarifying it was just a joke.

“I always wanted to jump into the ‘Dawg Pound,'” Chase admitted to reporters on Thursday, referring to the raucous section of Browns fans located in the east end zone of Huntington Bank Field. However, he quickly backtracked, quipping, “No, I wouldn’t do it. I heard they stab people in there… I’m messing with y’all, man. I’m a troll, bro.”

Chase, who had a stellar 2024 season culminating in the NFL receiving Triple Crown, explained his love for playful antics. “I do stuff to troll. And I love it, though. Because they think I’m serious the whole time. It’s just funny, man.” He emphasized the importance of having fun and not taking everything so seriously.

The “Dawg Pound,” celebrating its 40th anniversary this season, originated in 1985 when Browns cornerbacks Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield hyped up their defensive linemen with barking across the line of scrimmage during training camp. The fans soon joined in, creating a tradition of barking, dog masks, and general mayhem during Browns home games.

While Chase enjoys a history of trolling his opponents, he also boasts a solid record on the field. He finally scored his first touchdown in Cleveland last season, catching an 18-yard pass from Joe Burrow in Week 7. Following the score, he even delivered an Allen Iverson-esque step-over to Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II.

Whether Chase scores again this Sunday and, more importantly, whether he attempts his teased “Dawg Pound” leap remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: the star receiver will be looking to have some fun at the expense of the Browns and their fans, as long as it’s all in good fun.
