Fri Sep 05 07:57:38 UTC 2025: ## News Article: Toxic Fumes Hospitalize Dozens in Cuddalore Pesticide Leak

**Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu – September 5, 2025** – Over 40 people were hospitalized today after a suspected toxic fume leak at Crimsun Organics, a pesticide manufacturing unit in Kudikadu, Cuddalore. The incident occurred at the SIPCOT industrial estate, triggering panic among residents of nearby villages who fled their homes as thick fumes billowed from the facility.

Police suspect the leak originated from a pipeline connected to a reactor within the Crimsun Organics plant. While the fumes have been brought under control, a joint investigation by police personnel and the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.

The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the Cuddalore Government Hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable.

This incident has sparked renewed concern regarding safety protocols at the plant. T. Arul Selvam, of the SIPCOT Area Community Environmental Monitors (SACEM), pointed out that a similar, fatal incident occurred at the same facility in 2021, claiming four lives. Selvam asserts that Crimsun Organics manufactures highly toxic chemicals with known environmental and health hazards and that the current incident is a result of neglected safety norms.

District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar was unavailable for comment.

This is a developing story. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
