Fri Sep 05 10:20:00 UTC 2025: ## New Bond Emerges: Patrick Gibson to Play Young 007 in ‘First Light’

**Copenhagen, Denmark** – The world has a new James Bond, and he’s not who you might expect. Irish actor Patrick Gibson, known for roles in “Dexter: Original Sin” and “Shadow and Bone,” has been cast as a 26-year-old James Bond in “007 First Light,” a new origin story video game developed by IO Interactive, the creators of the Hitman franchise.

Gibson, at 30, will be the youngest actor to portray Bond on screen. This casting choice marks a departure from the typical superstar casting associated with the iconic spy.

“The way that works is less about looking for who becomes our Bond,” explained narrative director Martin Emborg during a recent visit to IO’s Copenhagen studio. “Who can shoulder this young version of the character? And I think working with big names is a different exercise. It’s not finding the character as much as saying, ‘Oh, wouldn’t it be cool if so-and-so were Bond?'”

Emborg praised Gibson’s “excitable confidence,” “plenty of charm,” and “brashness” as traits that perfectly suit this inexperienced 007. “He’s a very dynamic guy,” Emborg stated. “He also has a great gravity to him. He is someone who can really bring a dramatic performance to life in the room.”

“007 First Light” will feature classic Bond characters such as M (Priyanga Burford), Q (Alastair Mackenzie), and Miss Moneypenny (Kiera Lester), alongside new additions like Bond’s mentor, John Greenway (Lennie James), and Miss Roth (Noemie Nakai).

The casting of Gibson and the focus on a younger, less experienced Bond signal a fresh direction for the franchise. While details of the gameplay and storyline remain under wraps, “007 First Light” promises a compelling origin story for the world’s most famous spy.
