Fri Sep 05 07:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Ajit Pawar Faces Backlash After Scolding Female IPS Officer Over Illegal Soil Excavation
**Solapur:** Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is facing criticism after a video went viral showing him scolding a female IPS officer over the phone. The incident revolves around a case of alleged illegal soil excavation in Kurdu village, Madha taluka, Solapur district.
The incident occurred on August 31st, when IPS officer Anjana Krishna, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) of Karmala, took action against the illegal excavation of ‘murum’ (soil) in Kurdu. According to ABP Majha, who investigated the matter, villagers were using the soil to build a road on a ‘panand’ (field path) to improve connectivity, claiming the Gram Panchayat (village council) had passed a resolution authorizing the work and possessing necessary documentation.
Reportedly, villagers contacted Deputy Chief Minister Pawar when IPS Krishna initiated action, allegedly due to a language barrier. However, the conversation between Pawar and the officer, where he used a harsh tone, sparked controversy. Pawar’s perceived support for those involved in the illegal excavation has drawn criticism, with many questioning whether he was obstructing administrative action.
Following the incident, police have filed a case against 15-20 villagers of Kurdu for obstructing government officials and engaging in illegal soil excavation. Villagers allege that IPS Krishna was not in uniform during the operation and that her security guard pointed a revolver at a driver transporting the soil. They also claim that the action should have been handled by revenue officials, not a police officer. Villagers are demanding the registered cases be dropped. However, they haven’t clarified the matter regarding the required legal permissions for soil extraction. The villagers are alleging that the cases were registered in wrong manner against them.
