**Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Akutami Announces New Manga Project, “Mojuro,” with Cipher Academy Illustrator Iwasaki**
TOKYO, JAPAN – August 31, 2024 – Gege Akutami, the acclaimed creator of the blockbuster manga series *Jujutsu Kaisen*, is teaming up with Yuji Iwasaki, the artist behind *Cipher Academy*, for a brand-new short-term manga series titled *Mojuro* (romanization unconfirmed). The project was unveiled in the 40th issue of Shueisha’s *Weekly Shonen Jump* magazine and is slated to debut in the magazine’s 41st issue, hitting newsstands on September 8th.
Akutami is credited with the original work, while Iwasaki will handle the illustrations. The 41st issue will feature *Mojuro* on its cover, further highlighting the excitement surrounding the collaboration. The first chapter will be a hefty 54 pages, including a striking color opening page.
*Weekly Shonen Jump* has kept plot details under wraps, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the story’s premise.
Akutami’s *Jujutsu Kaisen*, which launched in March 2018 and recently concluded in September 2024 after 30 volumes, became a global phenomenon. Its anime adaptation premiered in October 2020 and spawned the hit film *Jujutsu Kaisen 0*. The second season of the anime, which adapted the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc and the Shibuya Incident arc, wrapped up its two-cour run earlier this year. A compilation film of the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc was recently released, and a sequel adapting the Culling Game arc is currently in development at MAPPA.
Yuji Iwasaki’s *Cipher Academy* has also garnered attention for its unique blend of puzzles and manga storytelling. The collaboration between Akutami and Iwasaki promises a fresh and exciting addition to the *Weekly Shonen Jump* lineup.
Fans can pick up the 41st issue of *Weekly Shonen Jump* on September 8th to experience the debut of *Mojuro*. Further details about the series are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
