**’Countdown’ Season 2 Renewal in Limbo, Release Date Uncertain**
Los Angeles, CA – Fans eagerly awaiting the return of the action-packed crime thriller “Countdown” may have to exercise patience. While Season 1 of the Derek Haas-developed series, which follows LAPD detective Mark Meachum (Jensen Ackles rumored) as he uncovers a deadly conspiracy, captivated audiences during its 13-episode run from June 25th to September 3rd, 2025, the fate of Season 2 remains undecided.
Amazon Prime Video, the streaming home for “Countdown,” has yet to announce a renewal, and is likely still evaluating the show’s viewership and overall performance. Showrunner Derek Haas, known for his work on the “Chicago” franchise and “FBI: International,” recently told Bleeding Cool that he has “nothing new to share” regarding a potential second season but expressed hope for “great news” in the future.
Industry analysts predict that should Amazon greenlight “Countdown” Season 2 in the coming months, production would likely take place throughout 2026, potentially leading to a release in the latter half of 2026 or even 2027.
If renewed, Season 2 is expected to continue the narrative of Mark Meachum and his team as they tackle new high-stakes cases. The returning cast could include Jensen Ackles, Jessica Camacho, Eric Dane, and Violett Beane.
