**TIRUCHI, India – September 4, 2025** – The University College of Engineering, BIT Campus, Anna University, Tiruchi, has been selected as the District Hub for Tiruchi under the Tamil Nadu Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, “Nimirnthu Nil.” The Hub will guide 75 higher educational institutions across the district over the next five years, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

The announcement was made at a ‘Top Management Meet’ organized by the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII-TN) in association with Anna University, Tiruchi. Dr. T. Senthilkumar, Dean of the University College of Engineering, BIT Campus and Hub Coordinator, revealed that the program aims to build upon the successes of the previous phase (2016-2021), which saw the promotion of over 10 student startups.

“Under the revised plan, the Tiruchi Hub will support a diverse range of institutions, including engineering, polytechnic, arts and science, B. Ed, ITI, nursing, agriculture, and medical colleges,” Dr. Senthilkumar stated.

R. Ambalavanan, Director of EDII-TN, outlined the government’s ambitious vision to cultivate 10,000 student entrepreneurs in the coming five years, supported by ₹19.57 crore in funding and specialized training in areas like AI, e-commerce, and manufacturing.

The program, implemented on a hub-and-spoke model, seeks to instill innovation, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills among students, empowering them to create impactful ventures.
