**Paravur, India – September 4, 2025** – The town of Paravur is abuzz with festive spirit as Onam celebrations commence. Streets are lined with vendors selling flowers and traditional clothing, while local organizations have set up Onam markets.
Crowds thronged the town yesterday to purchase flowers, Onathappan figurines, clothes, and household goods, and merchants anticipate continued activity today, the day before Uthradam.
The municipal park is a hub for flower vendors offering essential blooms like marigolds and chrysanthemums, sourced both locally and from outside the region. Demand for Thumba flowers and plantain leaves for the Onam feast is expected to rise.
Many people are visiting stalls selling handloom clothes, from Chendamangalam, while other clothing shops in the city are also experiencing rush.
The Paravur Municipality inaugurated its Onam celebrations, with cultural programs including traditional Onam songs. Other local organizations also launched their Onam festivities with cultural events and competitions. Additionally, various community groups have organized Onam kit and clothing distribution events for those in need.
A painting competition for school students is scheduled for September 6th, organized by the Postal Club.
