**White Sox Rally Late, Edge Twins in Series Opener**
**MINNEAPOLIS, MN** – The Chicago White Sox (50-88) clawed their way to a 6-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins (62-75) on Monday afternoon at Target Field, securing their second straight win. A late-inning surge, highlighted by clutch doubles from Brooks Baldwin and Mike Tauchman, propelled the South Siders to a come-from-behind victory.
While Colson Montgomery continued his recent power surge with a home run – his 16th in just 47 career games, second only to Jose Abreu in franchise history – it was timely hitting down the stretch that proved to be the difference. Chase Meidroth also contributed with a rare homer of his own. “The little fella, he got it over the fence. That was good,” said Montgomery of Meidroth. “He came into the dugout and he was like, ‘Dude, homers are sick.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, they are pretty sick.’”
After relinquishing the lead, the White Sox rallied in the eighth. Baldwin’s double plated Bryan Ramos, who pinch-ran for Meidroth after he tweaked his ankle, tying the game. Tauchman then followed with another double, driving in Baldwin and securing the winning run.
“I feel like there’s been countless games where it’s been decided by one run,” Montgomery said. “To get one of these, even though we lost the lead too, and we were able to rally back, it kind of just shows we are never out.”
Jordan Leasure closed out the game, striking out two in 1 1/3 innings to earn his fifth save of the season. The White Sox used seven pitchers in total.
“September is the most important month,” Meidroth said. “Playing and winning games in September is what winning ballclubs do. And so it’s very important, no matter who we’re playing.”
The White Sox and Twins will continue their series Tuesday night.
