The Gabion wall, consisting of rock-filled wire mesh structures, is designed to reinforce the river bund and protect it from damage during peak discharges. Last year, a similar project was successfully implemented at Anbil near Lalgudi, costing ₹6.83 crore.

In addition to the Kollidam project, the WRD will also undertake work on the Koozhaiyar drain at Poovalur and Arattan Vaical, Siruthaiyur to address flooding caused by heavy rain discharges.
