**Belagavi District Experiences 25% Surplus Rainfall Despite Variations**

Belagavi, Karnataka – September 2, 2025 – The Belagavi district of Karnataka has recorded a 25% surplus in rainfall compared to its annual average for the monsoon season, according to data released by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) on September 1st. The district received 595 mm of rainfall between June and August, exceeding the average of 476 mm.

However, rainfall distribution has been uneven across the district. Khanapur taluk saw the highest rainfall at 1,915 mm, surpassing its average of 1,525 mm. In contrast, Belagavi taluk experienced a 16% deficit, receiving 787 mm compared to its average of 935 mm.

The district had a 48% surplus in June, followed by a 13% deficit in July, and a 54% surplus in August. Some areas like Saundatti, Yargatti, and Hukkeri received surplus rainfall, while Bailhongal, Kittur, and Mudalagi faced deficits.

On September 1st, water levels in the Krishna river and its tributaries showed a slight decrease due to reduced rainfall and discharge from Maharashtra. The total discharge at Kallol barrage was 59,807 cusecs, a decrease of 5,079 cusecs from the previous day.

The Almatti dam had an inflow of 76,081 cusecs and an outflow of 72,030 cusecs, reaching 99% of its capacity with 122.13 tmcft of water. The Renuka Sagar dam was also nearly full with 37 tmcft of water, experiencing an inflow of 5,714 cusecs and an outflow of 4,094 cusecs.
